你将看到什么
Tourneur turns a loose Jane Eyre framework into an atmosphere of wind, drums, cane fields, and uncertain states of consciousness. Its beauty is inseparable from a colonial viewpoint the film sometimes questions and sometimes reproduces.
如何轻松入门
Let sound guide the night journeys. The film offers several explanations without forcing one final answer, so the emotional relationships matter more than choosing between medicine and the supernatural.
观影提醒

The walk through the cane field feels both open and enclosed to me. The drums travel farther than the characters’ explanations, carrying a history the household can hear but never fully contain.
